Keeping AEDs Safe and Sound!

What is an AED?

An AED, which stands for Automated External Defibrillator, is a special device that can save lives during emergencies. It’s like having a superhero by your side when someone’s heart suddenly stops beating. The AED gives an electric shock to the heart, helping it start beating again.

Why is AED Maintenance Important?

Just like superheroes need their costumes and gadgets to work properly, AEDs also need regular maintenance to be ready for action when they are needed the most. Maintenance means taking care of the AED and making sure it’s in good working condition. Here’s why AED maintenance is so important:

1.Saving Lives:

When someone’s heart stops, every second counts. A well-maintained AED can quickly deliver the life-saving shock needed to restart the heart. Regular maintenance ensures that the AED is always ready to help in an emergency.

2.Keeping It Ready:

AEDs have special batteries and pads that need to be checked regularly. Maintenance ensures that the batteries have enough power and that the pads are not expired or damaged. This way, the AED is always ready to be used.

3.Detecting Problems:

Sometimes, AEDs can have issues that might prevent them from working correctly. Regular maintenance helps identify any problems early on, so they can be fixed before an emergency occurs.

4.Being Prepared:

By maintaining your AED properly, you can be confident that it will be reliable when needed. It’s like having a trusty sidekick that you can always count on.

Illinois Safety's Maintenance Programs

At Illinois Safety, we understand how important AED maintenance is. That’s why we offer two maintenance programs to ensure your AEDs are in tip-top shape:

1.Customer Staff Program:

In this program, one of your staff members will be trained by our experts on how to check the AED on a monthly basis. They will learn what to look for, how to change batteries if needed, and how to make sure everything is working correctly. Your staff member will receive an emailed checksheet to complete on the 1st of every month. This program empowers your team to take an active role in AED maintenance.

2.Professional Maintenance Program:

If you prefer, we can send one of our skilled technicians to perform the monthly checks for you. Our experts will visit your location and make sure that all the AEDs are properly maintained. This program provides peace of mind, knowing that a trained professional is handling the maintenance tasks.

Remember, whether you choose the Customer Staff Program or the Professional Maintenance Program, both options are designed to keep your AEDs in excellent working condition, ensuring that they’re ready to save lives when every second counts.
