What Is Basic Life Support?

The BLS course teaches people how to quickly spot a few situations that could be life-threatening. You can do good chest compressions with good airflow and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) as soon as possible.

In an emergency, they use this method to keep a person alive until they can get more help. It is called BLS, which stands for Basic Life Support. People who know a lot about medicine and people who don’t know much about medicine can both do it.

The most important goal of BLS is to keep blood and oxygen flowing to the brain, which will keep the brain from getting hurt. You must do CPR and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

When someone has stopped breathing or their heart has stopped beating, CPR is used to save their life. When someone can’t breathe on their own, you can use it. People who are having this can be helped by chest compressions and rescue breaths. You can also give your heart a shock with an AED to get it working again.

The BLS course is for everyone, but people who work in health care should take it. The website also lists people whose jobs require them to know CPR and other basic skills for helping people with heart problems. It can happen in hospitals, on the job, or in the field.

What Does This Course Teach?

Understanding Basic Life Support Certification

The Basic Life Certification is a complete guide to first aid, CPR, using an AED, and what to do in an emergency. People who want to be ready to help in case of an emergency should get this certification. Students learn how to assess an emergency situation and care for patients. It also means knowing how to use life-saving tools like an AED and a first-aid kit.

People who want to be ready in case of an emergency should take the Basic Life Certification course. The course teaches everyone everything they need to know to help someone in an emergency. Imagine that you are a parent, a professional, or someone who just wants to be ready for anything. Then, this certification will give you the knowledge and skills you need to help yourself or someone else in an emergency.

Getting BLS certification proves that someone has been trained in CPR. They also showed that they knew how to give CPR to a person in cardiac arrest at a level that met the requirements.

BLS certification does not grant permission to provide care in the US, nor does it imply an obligation to act during a crisis if the rescue act is voluntary. The CPR certification is just proof that the person has been trained in CPR and shown at least some level of skill during the course. This course is based on the most up-to-date recommendations and guidelines from ECC/ILCOR and the American Heart Association (AHA).

Benefits Of BLS Certification

Better Employment Opportunities

You will have a better chance of getting a job if you have your BLS certification. People are looking for people who can work and give first aid in an emergency.

It Increases Your Chance Of Being Hired As A Volunteer

When you have a certificate, people trust you more because they know you will do your job well. They know that if there is an emergency or a natural disaster, you will help them. People who have been certified by the BLS are the only ones they trust. Because of this certification, employers can get more volunteers without having to look for people who have already taken emergency training on their own. So, it is good for you to have this certification.

More Respect From Your Peers And Co-Workers

As a BLS-certified person, you pay more attention to your job and your coworkers and are more responsible for them. When you treat the people you work with well, you show that you care about them and their safety. It makes your boss trust you more, so they will always give you better chances than other people.

It Helps You Stay Calm In An Emergency Situation

If you have a certified one, you can handle any emergency without worrying. Having this trait is important in a crisis because panic can make things worse. It can even put the person who needs help in danger.

It Increases Your Confidence

You feel more sure of yourself because you know you can handle any situation. You can also save someone’s life if you have to. This confidence is important not just for you, but also for the person who needs your help in an emergency.

It Helps You Handle Medical Equipment

When someone who has been trained to use certain medical equipment uses it, they get a certificate. Every second counts when there is a real emergency. Every second counts. If you don’t know how to use the equipment, it could cause more problems in the future.

It Helps You Understand The Medical Terms

There are a lot of medical terms you need to know and what they mean. No matter what kind of medical professional you want to be, if you don’t understand what the doctor is telling you in an emergency, it could make things worse.

You Will Be Able To Help Out In Any Kind Of Disaster Situation

If there is a disaster, like an earthquake, flood, etc., the trained people will be the first ones called to help because they know how to handle these kinds of situations and will be able to help the people who are hurt.

You Will Be Able To Work In Any Kind Of Medical Institution

People can get help with their health in a lot of places, like hospitals and nursing homes. You can work there as long as you have a license. It doesn’t matter if your job is to help people with first aid or CPR or if you have to use the equipment professionally. This certificate will be very helpful.

More Recognition

With the certification, you look more professional than people who don’t have it. In this situation, your boss will give you the best job because he thinks you can help people in a crisis. It means that if you are known more, you will get more chances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Their certification allows them to provide basic life-saving and life-sustaining interventions until trained medical personnel can provide them with full medical care known as advanced life support (ALS).

This course aims to teach participants how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, perform high-quality chest compressions, provide appropriate ventilation, and use an AED as soon as possible.

Because your job requires them to provide lifesaving emergency care, anyone working as a “professional rescuer” will need a BLS certification. This includes both professional and volunteer firefighters, who must be EMT-certified.

Basic life support (BLS) is a level of medical care provided to patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can receive full medical care from advanced life support providers (paramedics, nurses, physicians).

Initial assessment, airway maintenance, expired air ventilation (rescue breathing; mouth-to-mouth ventilation), and chest compression are all part of it. When all of these elements are combined, the term cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is used.

Both CPR and BLS training typically include keeping the victim’s airway open and promoting blood circulation without the use of mechanical aid, among other critical rescue techniques. The primary distinction between BLS and CPR is that BLS includes lifesaving techniques required in a medical or hospital setting.

BLS cards are valid for two years from the date of issue. If your American Red Cross BLS certification is about to expire (or has expired and you’re within 30 days of losing it), you can recertify for two years by enrolling in an abbreviated BLS course (a review course).

If they’re required or crucial, list them near the top of your resume, above your experience section, as follows: Putting certifications at the top of your resume draws attention to them right away. Including certifications on your resume demonstrates that you have a diverse set of skills.
